About Carnifex
Up until this day it still doesn't seem to be possible to be a 100% ourselves. Social media sensors and pushes certain ideals forwards and the idea of people being performative is one of the bigger trends recently. With Carnifex we want to cross boundaries, be curious and look for ways to show raw emotions - and not by acting or by interpretation. Carnifex was created to show real emotions often in pretty direct ways. Faces of Pain, our first shortfilm, is a great example of this: the film is focussing on how people think about pain by asking them questions and then shows their experience of different kinds of pain.
Carnifex is latin for executioner and torturer amongst other slightly different translations. Carni therefor means flesh, while fex means maker. This fits with our goal of creating films, performances and other kinds of art that might cross borders of todays society. We don't mean to make porn for entertainment, but we do show naked bodies and like working with bdsm theme's and kinks. We like showing things how they are, the realness of human emotions and how they experience things(...)
What are we when we are just being humans? How do we experience the world differently trough kink and bdsm? What do we experience when feeling pain, when we are ashamed or feel humiliated and accept these feelings fully (which is possible trough kink).
